Bearded dragon inspires Bromsgrove couple to set up reptile rescue centre

A BEARDED dragon bought from a breeder inspired a couple to open a reptile rescue centre at their Catshill home.

Luke Franks and Lucie Jones instantly fell in love with the lizard and then thought they would like to help other creatures in the reptile world.

Now, just one month in, they have two corn snakes, a boa constrictor, seven bearded dragons, a leopard gecko, two chameleons, a tortoise and a giant African land snail.

And after discovering their new passion the pair are now looking into going to schools and care homes for the elderly to do presentations and experiences with reptiles so other people can start to appreciate the animals as much as they do.

Luke said: “In the long-term future, to have our own reptile conservation park would be a dream come true but for now we are doing what we can to help these animals and their owners as well.”

The rescue centre is a non-profit organisation but it does have a JustGiving page for anyone who wants to help them with their rescues.

Also needing help with rehoming any reptiles or anyone wanting to book Luke, Lucie and their reptiles for a presentation or animal experience can visit the L&L Reptile Rescue Facebook page or call 07951 265965.
