THE BASEMENT Project has launched a campaign to raise £10,000 in the next month to support young people in need this Christmas.
The charity, which helps those aged between 16 and 25 who are homeless or in danger of becoming homeless, is urging the local community to get behind the scheme and help it reach its total.
The Opening Doors for Young People campaign launches on Monday, November 25, and runs until Christmas Day.
The drive aims to bring hope, stability, and a brighter future to those who need it most.
Building on last year’s drive
Last Christmas, thanks to the amazing generosity of local people, a similar campaign raised enough to fund more than 400 hours of one-to-one support.
This year, The Basement Project hopes to achieve this again, ensuring young people in the community have somewhere to turn when life gets tough.
The Basement Project provides a lifeline for young people facing the challenges of homelessness, offering support with everything from housing and budgeting to mediation and counselling. These services do not just meet immediate needs, they help young people build the confidence and skills to rebuild their lives and manage a tenancy independently.
Caleb Mallard, CEO at The Basement Project, said: “This campaign is about much more than raising money – it’s about giving hope.
“Every pound donated helps us provide the practical and emotional support young people need to rebuild their lives.
“Last year’s campaign made an incredible difference, and with the community’s support, we hope to do it again.”
The charity said every donation would make a difference and it was easy to support the campaign.
How to donate
People can donate online at totalgiving.co.uk/appeal/openingdoorsthischristmas or drop off cash or cheques at Hanover House, 1 Hanover Street, Bromsgrove.
Bank transfers can also be made. Just £10 can help The Basement Project provide services from housing support and counselling to workshops and job application guidance for a young person in need.
Kelly Turner, the charity’s fundraising manager, said: “Christmas can be a difficult time for many young people in our community, but together, we can change that.
“Every donation, big or small, brings hope and opens doors to a brighter future for the young people we support.”
