Barclays confirm its Bromsgrove branch is set to close

Bromsgrove Editorial 20th Jul, 2022 Updated: 20th Jul, 2022   0

THE BROMSGROVE branch of Barclays is set to close on October 18, the company has confirmed.

This is due to a sustained fall in branch visits across the country as customers find other ways to do their banking.

The Bromsgrove branch reported a 60 per cent drop in counter transactions in the two years to March 2020.

Only 27 regular customers solely use the Bromsgrove branch for banking.

All customers will receive a letter and Barclays will display posters and the ‘decision to close’ document at the branch.

Barclays said staff would be on hand to address any concerns or questions customers may have.

Virtual ‘tea and teach’ sessions will be held for customers wanting to find out about alternatives to branch-based banking.

Plans are under way for Barclays to provide additional face-to-face access to banking services in one of its community locations after the branch has closed.

The firm said further details would be released soon.

A Barclays spokesperson said: “The decision to close a branch is never an easy one.

“We will be proactively engaging with local businesses and the wider community to discuss the alternative ways customers will be able to undertake their banking locally.

“We will work with our customers and provide alternative options to ensure they can continue to manage their money and receive financial expertise when required.

“This includes working with the local community to find different, more flexible ways for our colleagues to continue to provide local banking support, such as through pop-up presences.”
