AVONCROFT Museum will host this year’s Bromsgrove Folk Festival, it has been announced.
The event, which runs this year from July 6 to 9, has found a new home at the historic venue.
This new partnership brings together two worlds in a celebration of all things ‘folk’, providing a fabulous weekend of music, dance, story, food and crafts!
Bromsgrove Folk Festival organisers have been running the local friendly festival for more than 30 years.
The organisers are ‘enormous in heart and aspiration and are dedicated to bringing the best in folk, roots and acoustic music, from far and wide’.
Avoncroft, with its 19 acres and numerous historic buildings, will provide the perfect backdrop – there is plenty of space for fringe events such as storytelling, folk dance, crafts and workshops.
The event is perfect for everyone – from dedicated folk fans who can book for the whole weekend to day-trippers wanting to dip in for a full day of fun, music and something interesting round every corner.
Avoncroft Museum Director Zoe Willems said “The Folk Festival seems like a perfect partnership with Avoncroft Museum – we are both all about telling stories ordinary people can relate to.
“The Folk Festival team are experts in arranging a fabulous line-up of music throughout the weekend.
“The original vision for the museum in the 1960s was as a ‘Folk Village’ so there is some historic precedent – but we look forward to bringing it fully up to date with arts, crafts and lots of chances for families to get involved.”
Bromsgrove Folk Festival is so much more than a series of concerts with headline artists.
Club singers and budding artists are encouraged to add to the Bromsgrove experience with singarounds, open mics, and the like including, of course, the legendary sessions.
Then there is the Ukulele Workshop (BUMS) and the Festival Choir (BOTOMS)
