Asda employee heads to USA for once in a lifetime trip

Bromsgrove Editorial 9th Jun, 2018   0

AN ASDA employee has headed to the United States for a once-in-a-lifetime trip after being recognised as an outstanding colleague by her peers.

Amy Meacham, George Section Leader at Asda Bromsgrove, was one of the only employees in the UK to be selected to attend the Shareholders Conference at Walmart in Arkansas.

Walmart is the world’s largest retailer and owns all of the UK’s Asda stores.

The annual conference aims to ‘celebrate the accomplishments of the business and it’s people’.

It will be attended by more than 15,000 colleagues from around the world and it will also feature a a celebrity guest – although it is a closely guarded secret on exactly who it will be.

Pop-superstar Katy Perry, comedian James Corden and actor Tom Cruise are just a few of the names who have attended over the last few years.

Amy Said: “I’m excited and very proud to be going to the USA to represent Bromsgrove and Asda. I’m in the States for a week – so it really is an incredible opportunity.

“I’m looking forward to meeting some of my international colleagues and learning more about the different ways in which they provide brilliant service where they work.”

Bromsgrove Asda manager Karen Dean said it was a fantastic way for colleagues to learn more about how the company works in other countries and she added she would be encouraging Amy to share her findings on her return.

“It will be fun, of course, but I think Amy will also find it a really rewarding experience.”

Amy is due to fly back to England on June 9.
