TWO men were arrested in Evesham today (June 13) on suspicion of vehicle theft.
The pair, aged 17 and 19, were spotted acting suspiciously in the area in the early hours of the morning.
After police were alerted by a local resident, a car was flagged by ANPR as having been stolen in Hagley earlier this month.
Officers pursued the vehicle with the help of a police helicopter and it eventually came to a stop when officers deployed a ‘stinger’ device which punctured the tyres.
After fleeing the scene, one man was quickly located by officers and the other presented himself to officers a short time later.
Two men were arrested and remain in police custody.
A West Mercia Police spokesperson said: “Perpetrators of car theft, including car key burglary, often target specific vehicles, based on demand and value.
“Our Roads Policing teams work closely with our proactive detectives in identifying those potentially driving stolen cars or looking to steal.”
