Appeal to find 'sentimental' chest of drawers mistakenly taken to Household Recycling Centre in Hanbury

AN APPEAL has been launched to find this chest of drawers which were mistakenly taken to the Droitwich Household Recycling Centre at Hanbury Wharf.

They are of great sentimental value to the owner Deirdre Watson who is desperate to get them back.

They were in the home of an elderly man in Droitwich who recently passed away. Deidre was his late son’s partner (daughter-in-law) who was due to collect them.

But when instructions were relayed about another item of furniture – a hi-fi cabinet – to be taken to the tip last Wednesday, the chest of drawers were taken as well.

Dierdre went to the Household Recycling Centre on Saturday they had gone.

She contacted us to see if Standard readers could help and now hopes anyone who has seen them or knows where they are will get in touch.

She said: “They were not of great monetary value but are between 60 and 80 years old and have been in the family for generations.

“They were taken to the furniture area of the recycling centre and the staff there said sometimes charities or people came down and took pieces to either sell on or keep.

“I don’t think they looked of such poor quality that they would have been thrown into one of the containers as scrap so I’m hoping that has not happened but if it has, I would just like to know.”

Anyone who can help Dierdre or knows where the chest of drawers are can call our newsdesk on 01527 588657 or email [email protected]
