THE ANNUAL charity picnic and fun day, in memory of Amy Shimell and to raise funds for Birmingham Women’s Hospital Charity, will take place at Bromsgrove Rugby Club next Saturday, July 22.

The event, which starts at midday, will feature a variety of activities, including live music, a bar, inflatables, a host of stalls, a raffle and a tombola.

Among those performing are Bromsgrove band Kwalia, solo artist Jordan Laight, The Tipton Community Choir and Ross Simpson.

Amy, who died in September 2017 at the age of 32, loved her vocation as a neonatal nursery nurse at the Women’s and had a great passion for patient care.

This is the third event of its kind and it usually yields a good turn-out -organisers are hoping this one will be the same for what they say is their ‘biggest event to date’.

The event is sponsored by AFH Wealth Management.

Amy’s sister Lucy is urging people from Bromsgrove district, Rubery, south Birmingham and even further afield to ‘pack up a picnic and bring along their blankets for a day of fun with family and friends.

Each picnic has raised around £2,500 but since Amy’s passing, with other events, the total for the cause is more than £12,000.

Admission to the picnic is £3 per person or £10 for a family of up to five.
