Annatomix art mural in Longbridge 'defaced' by vandals

A PIECE of artwork along a new art and nature trail in Longbridge has been vandalised before even being open to the public.

The artwork, created by Birmingham artist Annatomix, covers the brick walls of an old railway bridge.

The artwork includes three striking 15ft murals of her signature orange geometric fox. Another showcases a vibrant yellow flower.

The culprits have used white spray paint to taint one of the murals featuring a fox along St Modwen’s new nature trail, which runs from Rubery Great Park into Longbridge across the site of the former MG Rover factory.

Nearby residents took to social media to condemn those responsible, referring to the act as ‘disappointing’ and ‘defacing’.

Another wrote: “It’s really sad, it makes the places look shabby. I am not against art work when it looks good, not this rubbish. It’s a shame they wasn’t caught.”

St Modwen have yet to confirm a date for the opening of the trail but announced it was in the works alongside the housing development.

Although the murals were completed around May 14, few have yet to see them because of the trails lack of accessibility.

Annatomix has been approached for comment.
