A BROMSGROVE publican Anthony Theophanous was all smiles and laughs on Saturday as he fulfilled his dream of opening his own comedy club.
‘Fat Theo’s Comedy Club’, at Anthony’s Duke of York pub, saw four comedic acts taking to the stage before a packed audience of over 80 people.
The evening saw Anthony make a return to West Midlands comedy circuit following the closure of the original ‘Fat Theo’s’ club in Redditch nearly a year ago.
One-liner comedian Stephen Dodd opened the show, followed by The Punguin and Mr Badger, aka Donald Mackerel, before Jonny Cole closed the show.
Anthony, aka Fat Theo, said the night was an emotional experience for him after first getting into comedy after recovering from a brain haemorrhage in 2016.
The haemorrhage left him unable to work and suffering from amnesia, and while looking for activities to help him rebuild pathways in his brain he came across the Ultra Comedy course on social media.
He went on to organise comedy shows, making strong connections within the UK comedy circuit and became a promotor.
The next ‘Fat Theo’s Comedy Club’ event in Bromsgrove is on Saturday, December 23.
