ALERT - Disruption in Bromsgrove and surrounding areas as onslaught from Storm Barra begins

Bromsgrove Editorial 7th Dec, 2021 Updated: 7th Dec, 2021   0

STORM Barra which is set to batter Worcestershire this afternoon, evening and night is already causing issues in Bromsgrove and the surrounding areas.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for heavy rain – with flooding in places – and high winds which could reach speeds of up to 60mph.

It has predicted delays to road and rail journeys with buses and train services expected to face delays and cancellations.

People who need to travel should allow plenty of time for their journeys.

Powercuts, the Met Office adds, are also a possibility.

Trees have already fallen on several roads, including on the A450 at Hackmans Gate, Clent, and two more in Chaddesley Corbett – one on Cakebole Lane and another on Winterfold Lane.

West Mercia Police has urged people not to call 999 unless it is genuine emergency.

Worcestershire Highways want people to contact them with any issues on the county’s roads by calling 01905 845676 – up until 6pm or 01905 765765 throughout the night.
