A MAN who was seriously injured in a hit and run in Northfield has died in hospital

Robert Field was crossing Hoggs Lane when he was struck by a dark blue car, near the junction of Cheverton Road, at 7pm on February 22.

The 66-year-old suffered multiple fractures and a bleed on the brain and passed away in hospital this morning.

Police are still trying to track down the driver of the car which was heading towards Frankley Beeches Road.

Det Sgt Paul Hughes, from West Midlands Police’s serious collision investigation unit, said: “We were devastated to hear about the death of Mr Field and it has strengthened our resolve to trace the driver involved.

“The car lost a wing mirror in the collision so they will have known what happened, yet still decided to drive on.

“Now is the time for the driver to do the right thing, come forward and tell us exactly what happened.”

The family have asked for their privacy to be respected at this sad time.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or who has any information should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
