A TOTAL of £25,000 has been raised by several members of Primrose Hospice who participated in the London Marathon.
The group had independently organised events and sponsorship to help raise money for the charity.
One of the runners, Sharon Johnson, decided to raise money for the Hospice after her husband Chris Johnson was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease in 2018.
“It was by far the hardest thing I have ever done, both physically and mentally – I had to keep reminding myself why we were doing it, and that kept me going.”
On Sunday, October 2, the group joined over 40,000 runners in the streets of the capital to take on the 26.2 miles of the iconic marathon.
Primrose Hospice & Family Support Centre offer care and advice to patients living with a life-limiting condition and support families in the Northeast Worcestershire area.
Rebecca Stone, Fundraising manager at Primrose Hospice, said: “We are so grateful that we have the support of our community who are so willing to put themselves through such a difficult task like running the London Marathon all to raise money for Primrose.
“Every penny raised will go a long way to help us to keep supporting people when they need us the most.”
