£20million worth of Covid cash claimed by Bromsgrove businesses

Bromsgrove Editorial 29th Jul, 2020   0

MORE than £20million has now been claimed by businesses across Bromsgrove district from Covid-19 grant schemes.

A total of 92.5 per cent of all firms (some 1,758 companies) eligible for the pandemic payouts have claimed cash, including small businesses and those in the retail, hospitality and leisure sectors.

In total £20.327m in Government grants have been paid to businesses through the Small Business Grants Fund, the Retail, Hospitality and Leisure Grants Fund, and the Discretionary Grants Fund.

All three schemes are set to close on August 20 so any eligible firms who have not yet claimed are being urged to do so.

Coun Karen May, leader of Bromsgrove District Council, said: “These grants have been vital to our local economy – helping ensure the survival of district shops, cafes, hotels, restaurants and many other businesses.

“These are now the final stages of these grants.

“The vast majority of eligible businesses have claimed.

“If you think that you are eligible but have not yet been in touch with us about this, please do so as soon as possible.”

Successful applicants usually receive grant payments within five days, subject to checks.
