A PLAN to boost the cultural sector in Bromsgrove and the rest of north-east Worcestershire has received a £20,000 Arts Council England grant.
The cash will see a new ‘cultural compact’ partnership formed across Bromsgrove District and Redditch Borough to bring together people and organisations who can support the contribution culture makes to people’s lives and the local economy.
A compact emphasises engagement between the cultural sector and other organisations which may be outside that sector but share compatible ambitions with it.
Independent chair Jane Earl, a cultural sector expert and former CEO and civil servant who is supporting the project, said leadership, investment and talent would be used to maximise the areas’ cultural resources and to increase inclusivity and growth.”
Among those invited to join the compact will be the National Trust, the Canals and Rivers Trust, Arts Council England, the Heritage Lottery, the Artrix Holding Trust, Rubicon Leisure, local authorities, and more.
The district council and Redditch Borough Council applied for the grant after identifying the opportunity to develop co-operation and collaboration across the two council areas.

The first meeting will be held for partners in January to establish a working agreement and then they will get together regularly to identify opportunities to work together.
