1960s Charity gig coming to Hanbury Village Hall next Saturday

A CHARITY gig will be held at Hanbury Village Hall at 7pm next Saturday, August 6, when 1960s covers band The Reflections take to the stage to raise funds for Cancer Research UK.

The event has taken place 11 times before but for Arthritis Research UK.

That cause was chosen as the organiser Andy Ford – The Reflections’ drummer – has suffered from Rheumatoid Arthritis since the age of 11.

Andy is now 57 and the past 11 concerts have raised almost £30,000 for Arthritis Research.

Cancer Research was chosen for this year’s event as everyone in the band either has a family member who has suffered with cancer or knows someone through the band who has.

This year the gig will also feature special guests The Go-Gets, a girl dance group from Bristol which specialises in 1960s go-go dancing.

Andy said: “What’s better than a 1960s band with go-go dancers?

“I was really surprised they agreed to do the event as it is a four-hour round trip for them.

“We are all really pleased though and looking forward to it.”

There will be a licensed bar, raffle and a hog roast in the garden.

Tickets, £10 adults and £5 for the under 16s, are available from Andy on 07970 457043.
