BROMSGROVE’S Countrywide store has been saved, along with the 12 employees’ jobs after it was taken over by TFM Farm and Country Superstore Ltd.

The company moved in on May 18 and, after also acquiring the remaining stock, the past five weeks have been spent replenishing the shelves and it is now 80 per cent stocked.

The store offers everything for the farm and countryside and is also an all-round one-stop-shop for the great outdoors.

Among the products on offer are a wide range of livestock products, workshop accessories, farm consumables from plough parts to nuts and bolts, oils and other essentials.

It also stocks sand, cement, gardening and cleaning equipment, sawn timber, pet supplies and even items for shooting and fishing.

TFM was started by Terry Littleford in the 1970s and he is still chairman of the family firm which has a number of other similar stores in Telford, Bridgnorth, Stableford and Newport in Shropshire, Ludlow, Staffordshire and employs more than 100 people.

His son Mark Littleford, the Managing Director, said: “This has come at a good time for us and it is great to have a store in Worcestershire.

“We had started getting customers from Worcestershire visit our Bridgnorth and Stableford stores so this one will be a lot closer and more convenient for them.

“The reaction from the customers has been fantastic so far, they like what we do, we offer a lot more than was there previously and our prices are generally much more competitive.

“The premises is also fantastic as we have a vast indoor space, outdoor space and plenty of car parking.

“Getting it to how we want it to be and has been a gradual process, it is now about 80 per cent stocked so there is even more to come.

Mark added it was great to be able to secure the jobs for the staff who were already very knowledgeable and experienced and knew a lot of the store’s existing customers.

“We are also getting a lot of new faces through the door – people who have never used us before which is great.”
