Bromsgrove Liberal Democrats reveal May election candidates

Bromsgrove Editorial 21st Apr, 2023   0

THE LIBERAL Democrats have announced their candidates for May’s election in Bromsgrove.

The party will contest 21 seats on Bromsgrove’s District Council, hoping current councillors Janet King, Rob Hunter and Siobhan Robinson can retain Lickey Hills, Norton and Bromsgrove Central.

At the elections on May 4, Martine Reynolds will contest Aston Fields and Dr David Nicholl the Avoncroft seat.

Gill Bell will be hoping to win the Charford ward and Joanna McKenna is standing in Perryfields.

Vanessa Verlinden will contest Sanders Park and James Clark stands in Sidemoor.

This week, the Liberal Democrats released their plans for more affordable housing but added they believed it should not mean giving developers free rein to concrete over the countryside.

The Lib Dems say they would take a more careful approach to cross-boundary negotiations to avoid situations where, for example, developments for Redditch were built on land in Bromsgrove.

Current Lickey Hills member Councillor King said: “It is disappointing our Conservative run council delayed the publication of the green belt review until after the local elections in May.

“We must ensure residents are given an early say about any sites likely to be released to be built on.”
