Sharing knowledge is a boost for Bromsgrove Men In Sheds

BROMSGROVE men in sheds received a helping hand during a visit from Stoke Prior firm The HME Group this week.

The company’s managing director Martyn Hale initially contacted Age UK Bromsgrove, Redditch and Wyre Forest’s Jo Hughes after reading an article in a newsletter about one of the Bromsgrove Shedder’s original sponsors spending a day with the group.

After originally suggesting HME could support the shed by donating equipment such as 3D printers, Martyn learnt more about the scheme and felt the firm’s expertise could help.

HMEs accreditation manager Kevin Hughes used his visit to the shed to share his knowledge on dust extraction processes and suggested systems to help maintain a safe environment there.

Jo said: “Whilst raising funds is really important to the charity, organisations and individuals sharing their knowledge and expertise, and supporting us with equipment and materials, is also incredibly valuable so we really appreciate the support.”

Men In Sheds helps tackle loneliness and social isolation in older people by providing a place where they can come together to work on DIY projects, share their skills and make new friends.
