Charitable Christmas month at Charford's Golden Lion for youth homelessness

A BROMSGROVE pub is hoping to make a difference to young people facing homelessness this Christmas by running a month of fund-raising events.

The Golden Lion, Charford, has teamed up with St Basils to raise cash for the charity but also to bring everyone in the community together.

Across December, people can donate gifts and place them under the St Basils Christmas Tree in the pub for them to be distributed to those in need.

Joshua Matheson, the new landlord of the Golden Lion, chose the charity due to his own personal experiences.

“I have lived in Bromsgrove all my life.

“I struggled to get a house and move out of my home, but there wasn’t help for people my age to get them into accommodation.

“I am passionate about making sure everyone in the town is looked after, and this is a gesture to help them with the cost of living.”

St Basils is a charity working with young people aged 16 to 25 who are homeless or at risk of homelessness by finding them a home and teaching them life skills.

The charity has recently set up a charity cafe at The Pod on Humphrey Avenue, Charford.

What’s on:

On December 3, between 2pm and 5pm a charity tabletop sale will be happening in the pub with small businesses, craft stalls, and prizes to be won.

Then, on December 17, a charity quiz will be held, with entry being £5 per person.
