STAFF and residents at Bromsgrove’s Burcot Grange and Lodge marked the Hindu festival of Diwali with a packed day celebrating Indian culture.
Diwali, or the Festival of Lights, is one of the most important religious festivals in Hinduism.
Those in attendance wore saris, traditional Indian decorative jewellery and crystal bindis.
Bollywood Dreams Dance Company artistic creator Reena Tailor and her young volunteers showcased their talents before leading residents in a dance lesson.
They then enjoyed some of the finest Indian foods cooked by the home’s in-house chefs, including onion bhajis, samosas and Indian sweets.
Burcot Grange and Lodge general manager Vicky Osborne said: “It’s been a tremendous event both for residents and staff to enjoy, while also learning more about Indian culture.
“Celebrations like this really help to bring a sense of energy into the home, which is clear to see not just on residents’ faces but also on those of the caring staff.
“I can’t thank Reena and her student volunteers enough. They were great with the residents showing them different Bollywood dancing techniques.
“The food was delicious and allowed the residents to learn more about Indian cuisine and culture.”
