THE award-winning film Emily The Little Match Girl, which hopes to inspire the next generation of filmmakers, will be screening at Fairfield Flicks on October 27.
Matt Hickinbottom, Head of Studio at Musical Motion Pictures, will be present through the screenings to take questions and hopefully inspire Bromsgrove children into the industry.
Emily The Little Match Girl is based on the classic Hans Christian Andersen Fairytale and is voiced by David Bradley and Lesley Joseph.
What is the film about?
After the sudden death of her Grandmother, Emily is taken to the local match factory by the town’s corrupt Constable.
Here, Harry ‘The match maker’ and his wife, Mary, exploit the children to sell their matches in exchange for lodgings and a warm meal.
On Christmas Eve, Emily struggles to sell enough matches to keep Harry and Mary happy and to avoid punishment, she decides to stay outside in the cold.
When Emily strikes a match to keep warm, she is taken on a magical journey, which eventually reunites her with her Grandmother.
In the meantime, Emily’s new friend Anna decides to leave the match factory in the middle of the night in search of Emily.
On her journey, she teams up with Richard, a well-to-do young gentleman who has ambitions to help the children after learning of their treatment
