A DOG which was in a black Land Rover Discovery that was stolen from Hagley earlier today has been found in Halesowen.

Around 12.50pm, the vehicle was parked at Clent Hills Vets in the village and the boot had been left open to ensure it was cooler and well ventilated for the black retriever in a crate inside.

The retriever was later found at the roadside in Halesowen and was taken to a vets there to ensure it was okay.

The black Land Rover Discovery – registration number BR19 EBL – has still not been found.

At the time of the theft, a blue Skoda was seen nearby. An Asian man left the Skoda and was seen looking at the Discovery.

Witnesses at the scene said both vehicles made off at speed towards the motorway island.

Insp Richard Field said: “This was quite a distressing incident for the victim as their family pet was stolen within a split second.

“I am pleased to report that the dog has been found and police are conducting a number line of enquires into this theft.”

He urged anyone in the area at the time who saw anything to call police on 101, submit it at https://www.westmercia.police.uk/tua/tell-us-about/ or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
