THE QUEEN’S Baton Relay comes to Bromsgrove tomorrow (Saturday) when baton bearers will be welcomed to Sanders Park, writes Oscar Bland.

Team GB para athlete Leanna Horne is representing Bromsgrove.

It is also the 20th anniversary of the park’s Jubilee Bandstand which will be celebrated with the ‘Music Bus’, a demonstration by Bromsgrove Gymnastics Club and Bromsgrove Festival.

Coun Michael Thompson, portfolio holder for leisure, culture and climate change on Bromsgrove District Council, said the town was delighted to welcome the baton.

He added Leanna was an ‘inspiration to us all’ and had ‘worked tirelessly to promote disability sport’.

Leanna, from Rubery, said she was ‘very proud’ to be representing Bromsgrove.

“It’s an absolute honour to be involved in such a big way,” she said.

“I hope it will help inspire local people to get involved, enjoy and succeed in a sport.”

The baton will arrive in Sanders Park at 9am and Bandstand events will carry through to 11am.
