A CELEBRATION concert organised by Bromsgrove Town Crier Kevin Ward at the town’s St John’s Church raised £960 for good causes.
The Orchestra of St John performed a number of pieces chosen by Kevin to celebrate his parent’s love for music.
During the concert there was ‘dancing in the aisle’ to Strauss’ The Blue Danube Waltz, Alastair Moseley soloing with Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto and the event concluding with the audience singing along in Handel’s Hallelujah Chorus.
Kevin said: “I’ve been on cloud nine since the wonderful concert in St John’s.
“Whilst it was more stressful than I had anticipated to organise it, the end result was absolutely magnificent.”
He thanked OSJ, leader Shulah Oliver and Conductor Richard Jenkinson for ‘indulging him with a programme which included favourite pieces in his family’.
“And of course thanks go to the wonderful audience for their voices and generous donations.”
The cash raised will go to The Friends of St John’s which funds the ongoing restoration and fabric repairs at the ancient church building and the Norton Collection Museum – currently undergoing upgrades to the entrance to improve access.
