Worcestershire youth sailors complete overnight challenge to raise funds for charity

KIND-HEARTED young sailors got together to raise money for the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust, writes Aimee Lempriere.

The group took part in missions at Aztec Adventure, Upton Warren, with their main task keeping their 16ft dinghy sailing for 12 hours non-stop and overnight after starting at 8pm on a Saturday evening.

Despite some light winds, the sailors have powered through so far raising £1,400 for the trust.

Freddie, aged 12, said: “It was super hard to keep going through the night and to work out where the wind was coming from and where we were supposed to be going to, whilst staying awake.

“I think I need a good night sleep before doing it again, or anything else.”

People can visit aztecadventure.co.uk/ for more on Azetec Adventure and wysa.club/ for more on the Worcestershire Youth Sailing Association.

The fund-raising page is still open and people can go to justgiving.com/fundraising/WYSA22 to boost their total further.
