AN 80-YEAR-OLD Bromsgrove man awoke in the early hours of this morning to find two robbers in his bedroom.

They demanded he hand over cash and stole £300 he had in an envelope. The pair also damaged his phone but it was still working so he was able to call the police.

Officers were alerted just after 2.30am about the frightening ordeal.

Police believe the men left the property in Alcester Road, Burcot, around 2.20am and want to hear from anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious in the area.

Police said it was a nasty incident and, although not injured, it has left the man badly shaken. He is now being cared for by his family.

Officers added: “We understand that this type of incident may cause concern and alarm in the community and we’d like to reassure local residents we are doing all we can to apprehend these offenders.

“We would like to remind residents to please take all the usual precautions of locking doors and windows at night and removing keys and placing them out of sight.”

Witnesses or anyone with information should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
