A VARIETY of ways to help people improve the environment will be discussed at a climate conference at All Saints Church Hall, Burcot Lane Bromsgrove, at 2.30pm next Saturday, July 9.

Everyone is welcome to the ‘Our Climate Conversation’ open community discussion.

The organisers say climate change is the most critical challenge humanity faces today.

“It ought to be top of the news agenda every day.

“The horrible war in Ukraine will eventually end, and we are learning to live with Covid.

“But if we do not tackle this Climate issue (and so far our actions have had very little impact) then we will be sentencing our young people to a horrible future that would inevitably involve famine and environmental and societal breakdown.”

They have urged people to join them for round-table discussions.

Meeting sections include a welcome, Introduction to Climate Change, Three Areas – What we eat? How we move around? And how we heat our homes?

For each section there will be a brief introduction from the front and then some suggestions to stimulate the conversation.

People can record their conversation ideas as they go along. There will be opportunities to sum up and ask for further clarification at the end of each section. And then final pledges will be made.

An introductory talk will be given by Dr Louis Keal – a professional scientist and author of ‘A Gift for Conversation’.

The book explains Climate Change in simple terms and is designed to be personalised by people with their own contributions before it is given to a family member, friend or work colleague.

The book was a key inspiration for Our Climate Conversation.

He will remain as an ‘expert witness’ to help answer people’s questions.

The conference has been organised by Bromsgrove Climate Action, a member of Friends of the Earth
