MORE than £1,100 was generated for the Primrose Hospice, thanks to the raffling of two jars of pickled onions.
The Stoke Prior Sports and Country Club held a fund-raising disco just before Christmas and ran a raffle on the night to win a large jar of homemade pickled onions.
A second raffle for the prize pickled onions was held in February during a live music event with rock and metal covers band Vaxxine.
Stoke Prior resident Alan Wardle (known as Flash) donated his homemade pickled onions for both raffles.
He requested the cash was donated to Primrose Hospice because the charity is at the heart of the Bromsgrove community, helping so many patients with life-limiting illnesses and supporting their families.
Mark Goddard, manager at Stoke Prior Sports and Country Club, said: “Following the success of our fund-raising activities we are planning more charity events this year.
“Our customers have been really supportive, and our events and raffles are a fun way to help others in the community.”
