Police probing alleged assault after Bromsgrove Sporting v Alvechurch match which left man needing hospital treatment

POLICE have confirmed they are investigating an alleged assault at Bromsgrove Sporting FC around 5.30pm on January 15 which left a man needing hospital treatment.

It happened at the bar in the Victoria Ground after the match between Alvechurch and Sporting when fans and staff from both clubs had been drinking.

A person contacted the Standard, saying a Sporting fan had been attacked.

A West Mercia Police spokesperson said: “A 41-year-old man received treatment in hospital for injuries he sustained during the incident and has since been discharged.”




He added no arrests had been made and investigations were ongoing.

Witnesses or anyone with information should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.


A Bromsgrove Sporting spokesperson confirmed an incident did take place and added the police had been given the CCTV, were investigating and the club did not want to comment at this stage.
