MORE THAN 200 bottles of stolen alcohol were recovered when police caught up with the driver of a Volkswagen Passat on the M5 near Bromsgrove.

The stop was made at junction four after an attempted theft in Ross on Wye.

The haul – still with security tags on – included gin, whisky, vodka, rum, champagne and more.

Officers from Worcestershire Operational Patrol Unit – who arrested the driver – posted this picture of the bottles on Twitter, adding: ‘Somebody’s New Year’s Eve has just been ruined!’

Enquiries are ongoing into the incident.
