Generous Bromsgrove donors help Basement Project ensure 200 young homeless people will have a brighter Christmas

ALMOST 200 young people who are homeless or facing homelessness will no longer have to ‘choose between heating or eating’ this Christmas thanks to a successful festive fund-raising campaign by the Basement Project.

The charity was chosen by the Big Give Christmas Challenge which meant everything raised would be match-funded but it only had seven days to get to its £11,000 target.

By the end, the Basement’s drive came very close to that amount, notching up £10,912.

The recipients, all aged up to 25, will receive Christmas food hampers and heating vouchers.

Kelly Turner, Community Fund-raiser at The Basement Project said: “I want to say a big thank you to everyone who donated – it was a tremendous effort.

“The local community never ceases to amaze me and always comes out to support our cause.

“It means almost 200 people will have a much warmer and happier festive season.”
