Genny realises her 'lifelong dream' to open Curlew Espresso coffee shop at Bromsgrove Station

A BROMSGROVE woman has realised her lifelong dream of running her own coffee shop – opening Curlew Espresso at the town’s railway station.

Genny Billington was working as a shop manager in Worcester and, after spending years commuting from Bromsgrove Station, always thought there should be somewhere for people to get a hot drink.

So she started her business which offers medium roast Ritual Coffee, along with a selection of biscuits and cakes.

The coffee shop is open from 6am to 12pm Monday to Friday and in the future she plans to open on Saturdays and stock breakfast items.

She told the Standard: “My main aim is to always serve great coffee with a friendly smile and I’ve had some great feedback – both from people saying they are glad I’m here and about how great the coffee is.”

Curlew Espresso is eco-friendly, using compostable cups, recycling and upcycled furniture in the shop.

She named the coffee shop after the curlew bird – an endangered shore bird that Genny has always love because of their fascinating call.

She is planning to organise fund-raising days in the future with donations going to curlew foundations and the RSPB.

“I want to help ensure this lovely bird stays around for future generations,” she added.
