ARTISTS are being urged to get creative and submit designs for Bromsgrove’s BirdBox to help give the current mural a ‘seasonal refresh’, writes Holly Martin.
Earlier this year, local artist Fred Yorke and his colleagues from Modern Electric Tattoo Co, in Catshill, created the BirdBox backdrop in a bid to deter vandals who struck twice in 48 hours, defacing the panels.
Now, with winter approaching, the council, along with NWEDR, wants artists to submit designs which should incorporate seasonal features, community spirit and the name ‘BirdBox’.
Bromsgrove District Council leader, Coun Karen May, said: “We have enjoyed the mural at BirdBox for some time now and want to build on its success.
“With the changing seasons, and our festive programme of events soon to be launched, we thought this was the perfect time to refresh the mural and wanted to involve our community in doing just this.”
She added she was looking forward to seeing the designs the district’s creative residents came up with.
The refresh will be carried out with financial help from the Welcome Back Fund which supports the safe return of High Streets following the pandemic.
Entries should be submitted to [email protected] by October 27, with the winner announced on October 29.
The Bromsgrove Birdbox hosts live events, pop-up dining, arts and crafts demonstrations, well-being activities and more.
