A NEW charity art event which had its inaugural event at the Bromsgrove Hotel and Spa on Friday, Saturday and Sunday has raised more than £2,000 for the NSPCC and Dodford Children’s Farm.
The three-day exhibition and showcase was curated by De Montfort arts graduate Georgia Kinsella and resident Dee Hirst who brought together more than 80 arts and craft exhibitors.
The Creative Arts 21 show, aimed at ‘experience and giving back’ was officially opened by Bromsgrove Court Leet Bailiff Jo Slade and Bellman, Town Crier Kevin Ward on Friday.
Dee said after posting about her idea on social media she was overwhelmed by the response, so much so it led to there being a waiting list.
“Many of the stallholders said they loved being out and communicating with other creatives.
“Because we used social media to find prospective stall holders, the Creative Arts Showcase held a very high proportion of new tiny businesses set up over the lockdown, many of whom had never exhibited before.
“This led to the happiness and excited atmosphere being further enhanced.
“Many of the stall holders also commented on the warm, welcoming and well-organised volunteers – an accolade to our lovely team.”
She added this was the inaugural event and she hoped there would be more in the future and October 2022 is being looked at for the next one.
