THE MUM of a daughter who wrote a book about the battle to find answers over the past 40 years after her daughter was diagnosed with schizophrenia at the age of 13 will be raising awareness of the condition next Saturday, July 24.

Judith Millinchip who penned Hidden Illness – detailing the family’s search for advice and understanding as they strived to bring peace to their confused daughter – will be at Branded4u, next door to the post office in Barnt Green between 10am and 1pm.

She is hoping her daughter will be with her and their aim is to talk to people about mental illness to help them understand it more, ahead of National Schizophrenia Awareness Day on July 25.

Judith will have information booklets produced by Rethink, the national mental illness charity, to hand out to those who are interested, want to learn more or who need professional advice.

Tansie, known as Louise in the book, has been successfully treated with medication for the past 25 years and is now 53.

The book is available from £4.99 from Branded-4u in Barnt Green or can be ordered by calling 0121 445 3262.
