PUBLIC Health Worcestershire is monitoring Coronavirus infection rates in Bromsgrove after the number of Covid-19 cases started rising again.

The district has the highest number of cases in the county with infection especially spreading among the under 30s.

Health bosses are now urging people to keep following the rules, take regular rapid flow test and anyone 18 and over, to get vaccinated.

They say all the Covid-19 vaccines in use in the UK protect people from coronavirus.

Coun Karen May, Bromsgrove District Council leader and Worcestershire’s cabinet member with responsibility for Health and Wellbeing said: “We have come such a long way over the last year. Bromsgrove has worked hard to reduce the spread off the virus and keep everyone safe.

“We mustn’t let our hard work go to waste.

“The numbers are rising in people who have not been vaccinated.

“Please don’t put off booking yours.

“It’s the best way to keep your family and friends safe. I know, together we can do this, and get the numbers down.”

Dr Kathryn Cobain, Director of Public Health for Worcestershire added: “COVID-19 has not gone away.

“We have been doing well with our vaccination programme and I am so grateful to everyone who has come forward to have the vaccine so far.

“All the Covid-19 vaccines in the UK protect you from getting very poorly.

“To keep everyone safe, it is still important to keep following the hands, face, space and fresh air advice, as well as taking a rapid flow test twice a week.

“Let’s keep going, what we are doing is working, take up your vaccine Join the millions already vaccinated against Covid-19 to help everyone enjoy their summer safely.”

Anyone wanting to get the vaccine can book an appointment at www.nhs.uk/covidvaccine

Regular rapid Covid-19 testing if you don’t have symptoms is still important. It’s a fast and easy way to find out if you have coronavirus.

There are lots of ways to get tested:

People can pick up tests from a number of pharmacies – listed at www.worcestershire.gov.uk/communitytesting – or order a self-test kit online at: nhs.uk/Get-Tested
