PUPILS from North Bromsgrove High School will hold a day of summer celebrations on Friday, encompassing World Music Day, Pride and fund-raising for the Basement Project.

The event is about the whole school coming together and spreading happiness and all the colours of the rainbow – an ongoing symbol of hope to many during the pandemic.

The day will feature live music and dance performances in the school’s atrium and collections will be taken for the Basement.

The charity’s community fund-raiser Kelly Turner said: “North Bromsgrove has always been very supportive of The Basement Project, and I would like to thank all of the students who are raising money for us this year – every penny will go to helping local young people in crisis.

“Without the support of the local community, we wouldn’t be able to support the vulnerable young people who come to us for help on a daily basis.”

Students have also taken part in The Dame Kelly Home Trust’s ‘On Track to Achieve’ programme with athlete mentor Kelvin Batey.

The group of year nine and 10 pupils organised a social action project, including a non-uniform day, with all funds going directly to The Basement Project.

Katy Travers from North Bromsgrove said: “We are very proud of our students for their efforts to support such a vital local charity.

“Community links are so important to us as a school.”
