POLICE have stepped up patrols after an increase in thefts from shops.
Officers patrolled the town centre through the night in response to reports from business owners.
They also carried out 12 stop and searches – they resulted in both class A and B drugs being seized, along with lock knifes which will now be destroyed.
Several community protection notices (CPNs) were enforced.
A CPN is issued against culprits of persistent anti-social behaviour -their failure to comply with them can lead to further sanctions.
