BROMSGROVE councillor Steve Colella will stand as an Independent in Hagley and Clent Hills at the Worcestershire County Council elections on May 6.
Coun Colella wants to deliver a ‘better deal’ for local people with the benefit of not being tied to any political whip.
“Nothing should be taken for granted – this year has taught me the importance of family and friends,” he said.
“This, as well as living in a close community where neighbours have become close.
“The pandemic has deeply affected everyone in many ways. I know we have all suffered with the impacts on mental health and wellbeing, as well as socially and economically.
“That is why I intend to make a real change; no more making decisions based on party politics, no more saying one thing and doing another and no longer ignoring the local community.”
Coun Colella added that he is particularly pleased to have been behind the recent reversal of the road junction at the A456 and B4187 following several years of lobbying.
“There was mutual support between myself and Hagley residents who supported the campaign,” he said.
