A WOMAN has been cleared of murder but convicted of manslaughter after she stabbed her partner at his brother’s Bromsgrove home.

Cordelia Farrell of Dainton Grove, Birmingham, killed Wayne Coventry in the kitchen of a property on Humphrey Avenue on October 14 last year.

She plunged a kitchen knife through his chest following rows in their reportedly ‘toxic relationship’.

Farrell denied the murder charge throughout the entire trial at Worcester Crown Court, which finished yesterday.

Following the assault, Farrell then fled the house and later handed herself in to officers on 19 October at a police station in Birmingham.

Both Farrell, aged 38 and Mr Coventry, 36, were described as drinkers who also indulged in drug-taking.

A spokesperson for the Coventry family said: “Wayne was a loving son, a father who doted on his three children, a loving brother and a loyal friend and he will always be with us in our hearts and daily lives.

“We pray that these type of heinous crimes drastically decrease and other families don’t have to go through the pain and heartache our family and friends have had to endure.

“We would appreciate time to come to terms with this ordeal and ask for privacy.”

The family added their thanks to West Mercia Police for their work and professionalism in bringing the killer to trial.

Detective Inspector Lee Holehouse of West Mercia Police said: “I hope today’s outcome will provide some element of comfort to Mr Coventry’s family that justice has been done and that while a sentence has yet to be handed down, it will provide a small sense of closure for them.”

Farrell will be sentenced tomorrow.
