New West Midlands Railway timetable unveiled will return services to pre-lockdown levels

Tristan Harris 31st Aug, 2020   0

WITH PASSENGER numbers on the increase, West Midlands Railway is increasing the number of services it runs back to near pre-Covid levels.

The new timetable, which starts next Sunday, September 6, coincides with the return of children to schools and people to workplaces across the region.

Thousands of extra seats will be available.

Passenger numbers dropped by 95 per cent at the height of the lockdown and WMR and other operators have been gradually adding services as the restrictions have been eased.

Among the changes will see the number of trains on the Cross City Line increase from three to four every hour. Each one will have the maximum six carriages.

Passengers are reminded that wearing a face covering is compulsory on trains and in stations unless exempt for medical reasons.

Non-compliance is punishable by a fine from the British Transport Police.
