Sporting net top three spot in programme awards

Bromsgrove Editorial 4th Jun, 2020   0

THEIR season may have ended early with no league prizes handed out, but Bromsgrove Sporting have at least won one honour after a prestigious national organisation gave the club an award for their match day programme.

The Soccer Club Swap Shop acts as a co-ordinating body and clearing house for football programmes and has awarded Sporting third place in Southern League Premier Division Central.

The Rouslers also found themselves in the top 50 for all non-League clubs in 28th place – ahead of a number of higher level and former Football League clubs – out of the hundreds of teams producing match day magazines.

Club chairman Mike Burke said of the honour: “I think the award reflects the hard work, commitment and ability of a number of people involved in the production.

“(These include) Bryn Davies of the Hot Lobster Company who does the artwork for the cover, manager Brendan Kelly who always writes an informative, interesting and dare I say a pithy column, Matt Foden and David Quine who do the Wandering Rousler pages based on watching football in other countries, printer Richard Nokes of Bromsgrove Printing and not forgetting our editor Phil Baker, who has now been doing that job for all of our ten seasons.”

As well as producing the programme, it also has to be sold on match days and that falls to former director Paul Cheston, assisted by Katie Lammas, who is pictured with mascot Rebel Rousler.
