Support group launched in Catshill to help those isolating during the COVID-19 crisis

A COMMUNITY support group has been set up in Catshill to help people left isolated by the coronavirus crisis.

The informal ‘neighbour-hub’ group has been set up by local volunteers who are joining together to help others.

The aim is for people to do simple things to help the already strong and resilient community continue to thrive.

Among the actions will be checking in on vulnerable family, friends and neighbours and collecting and delivering shopping.

The group says ensuring everyone in the community has everything they need will make a huge difference and even regular checks via a phone call or text to make sure they are okay.

People are being assigned to each street to ensure all the area is covered.

Catshill councillor Shirley Webb, who is part of the drive, said: “It has been set up by the community, for the community for the vulnerable and elderly.

“I would say to people if they need help, please do get in touch.”

She also urged anyone who knew any elderly or vulnerable people who did not have Internet access to make them aware of it.

Anyone wanting more information or to get in touch with the group – whether it is to seek help or offer it – should visit support.catshill.com

Or check out the Facebook page.

Important information – Catshill Foodbank

Because the Baptist Church is closed to the public, the Catshill Foodbank is delivering food to people during the coronavirus crisis.

The parcels will be left by the door to ensure social distance regulations are observed.

Anyone needing emergency food parcels should call the foodbank at 07542 102649.
