THE organisers of this year’s Pride Of Longbridge rally at Cofton Park have cancelled the event.

It follows the COVID-19 outbreak and the announcement by Prime Minister Boris Johnson warning people not to attend large gatherings, including going to pubs or theatres.

The POL organisers said: “Following the statement and about prevention POL volunteers are sad to announce that it is cancelled due to the coronavirus government advice.

“I would like to thank you all those who attend and prepare for the event.

“POL vols will now be pulling together to help serve our Longbridge community through the coronavirus crisis.”

The rally has been held every year since the collapse of MG Rover.

It celebrate’s the area’s car-making history and last year 1,000 cars all built in Longbridge descended on Cofton Park, along with their owners who came from all over the world.
