RUBERY residents are being warned to be vigilant after a spate of burglaries in the space of a couple of hours.

In the first in Madley Close around 1.20pm on Tuesday, three men were spotted at a property by a neighbour who quickly called the police.

The trio drove off in a VW Golf which was later found abandoned.

Officers think the men and the vehicle may be linked to a number of burglaries and praised the neighbour for their prompt response.

In the second, burglars got into a property in Clent Road via a back door and ransacked the house around 2pm on Tuesday.

They fled via the back garden.

In another, the raiders entered a property in Waseley Road between 8.15am and 2pm on the same day and searched the house.

Again the thieves got in via the back door and escaped through the back garden.

Residents are being urged to be aware of any suspicious activity in the village and report it to the police by calling 101 or 999 if the burglary is in progress.
