New Bromsgrove mental health event to let people know they are not alone in their fight

A MENTAL health day will be held to bring people together so they can share stories and let each other know they are not alone, writes Shivani Chaudhari.

Winter Wellbeing has been organised by Kim Lennard a holistic and integrative therapist who wants to use her experience as a counsellor to help people across the district.

Kim, from Bromsgrove, said: “My job doesn’t feel like a job.

“It’s a privilege and responsibility to sit with someone who is going through hardship.”

The event has three guest speakers who will share their experiences, struggles and triumphs regarding their own wellbeing.

Founder and owner of the town’s Nature’s Intentions Emily Attwell will talk about her successful business as well as her mental health.

Chartered psychologist Andrew Bridgewater has written a book about how to deal with stress and create a healthy work-life balance.

And radio presenter Mark Stephan Pooler coaches and speaks about a variety of events and openly talks about his mental health struggles.

Before retraining as a counsellor Kim used to work as a HR manager in the public and private charity sector but decided to shift her focus towards helping people instead.

Kim believes the focus on mental health is greater than before as the ominous presence of social media can often lead people to create and consume a warped version of reality.

“As a counsellor my role involves empowering, helping and supporting people, she added.

On a day-to-day basis Kim shares advice on how people can best look after their mental health.

She has a strong belief it starts with three things everyday – drink water, do something active and try to maintain a healthy diet.

Winter Wellbeing runs from 11am to 1pm next Saturday, January 18, at Amphlett Hall, Crown Close, Bromsgrove.

For more information, email Kim at [email protected] or call her on 07788 543729.
