A TEENAGER had his mobile phone stolen in a street robbery in Rubery.

It happened in Callowbridge Road around 7.30pm on Saturday when the 16-year-old victim was walking with two friends.

It is believed a group of men followed them into an alleyway and blocked their path.

The teenage boy was then struck and went into the road where cars had to swerve to avoid him.

One of the men produced a blade, prompting the victim to run away.

The group of men then left towards St Chad’s Park.

The victim sustained minor injuries in the attack.

PC Dan Icke, from West Mercia Police, said officers believed it was an isolated incident, adding investigations were ongoing.

He urged any witnesses or anyone with any information to call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
