After the traditional service at the Rubery Memorial Club on New Road, there was a two-minute silence and wreath-laying.

The parade then made it’s way down New Road before dispersing.

Paul Roberts, the chairman of the Rubery and Rednal Royal British Legion, said: “It went very well – the centenary of the end of the First World War last year and this year’s 75th anniversary of D-Day has inspired people to come out and pay their respects.”

A  service at St Chad’s Church for those who prefer to be indoors was attended by more than 100 people.

It concluded at 11am with the two-minute silence.
