Families refer to new pregnancy stop smoking service in Worcestershire

Bromsgrove Editorial 19th Oct, 2019   0

MORE than 90 families have been referred to new pregnancy stop smoking service in Worcestershire in its first month.

In Redditch and Bromsgrove it’s estimated by 11 per cent of pregnant women still smoke, despite cigarettes being known to contain over 4,000 chemicals.

Stopping smoking can also help reduce the risk of complications in birth and pregnancy, along with lowering the risk of stillbirth and cot death.

Now one-to-one behavioural and motivational support is being provided by three new advisors who work with maternity teams to help mums-to-be quit the habit.
